Style Icon of The Week: LUCY HALE

Hey, bloggers! So it's that time of the week again, and my Style Icon of The Week is Lucy Hale. Better known as her character Aria Montgomery on the hit series Pretty Little Liars (which I'm totally addicted to, by the way. Is Ali alive!?) Lucy's style is both great on-screen and off. Our first outfit of the day is... Lucy's Coachella outfit:

What I love most about this outfit is how laid-back and casual it is. Maxi skirts never really seem to go out of fashion, and the slits up the side of the skirt really compliment Lucy's figure. The plain, black tied off crop top helps to emphasize the detail of the skirt, and Lucy's flower headband gives the outfit more of a bohemian feel. One of this Summer's trends is clashing prints and colours, and Lucy's aztec print backpack makes her right on trend. 10/10!

The second outfit of Lucy's that I have chosen, is the outfit she wore for the Bongo Boutique Pop Up Truck in New York City:

As was shown in my Perrie Edwards post, monochrome has been huge this summer. With her black top and white skirt, Lucy's sticking to this trend. The lace on her skater skirt helps give it a more girly and femenine look, as opposed to the sometimes tomboy-esque style of skater skirts. Her fedora hat is perfect for the summer, and it works well as her main accessory. The great thing about this outfit is that it can be either casual or an outfit you would wear to go out in (I didn't really know how to word that, as I'm not sure "dressey-uppy" really classifies as a word). Add some sandals for the casual look, or swap the fedora for some heels and bold jewellery if you're going to hit the town. This outfit also only comes to a total of £15.00 - Bonus!

On to the third and final outfit:

All of Lucy's outfits are simple but effective (pardon the Harry Styles reference. Ha.) and this one is no different. I really love the design of the high/low dress, as I think it makes it unique and more interesting. The tie dye pattern has also been a huge trend this year. Her matching peep toe shoes and belt are also simple, but work well to complete the outfit.

So that concludes this weeks... episode (?) of Style Icon of The Week, featuring the fabulous Lucy Hale. What's your favourite outfit of hers?

How To: OMBRE NAILS

Hey, bloggers! Although this is more of a beauty than fashion post, I'm going to attempt a 'tutorial' of sorts, hopefully teaching you how to create ombre nails. So, without further ado, here goes...

What you'll need:
- 2 nail varnishes, your choice of colours
- a sponge of some kind (I used a small make-up one)
- a plastic sheet
- a tooth pick
- some nail varnish remover
- some cotton buds
- a clear nail varnish for the final coat

1. Using the nail varnish you have chosen to be the background colour, paint two coats (or more, if you need to), until the whole nail is covered evenly.

Midi Ring, £4.00 from Miss Selfridge

2. On the plastic sheet, pour two small blobs of each of the colours. Using the tooth pick, mix the colours together in the middle.

3. Dip the sponge into the nail varnish mixture, and dab the sponge onto your nails. Start at the top, before gradually moving downwards (be warned - it's going to cover your finger too).

4. Once the colour has dried, dip a cotton bud into some nail varnish remover/acetone. Use this to remove any excess nail varnish around the edges of the nails. Finally, cover the nails with a few coats of nail varnish top coat (you may need two or three, as the sponging makes the nails slightly bumpy.)

I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know if you're going to try this or if you already have! Tag me in your pictures on Instagram: @fashionbykennedy because I'd love to see if you attempted them.

My Outfit Of The Day post will not be until next Tuesday, which I apologise for, but there will be a new Style Icon of The Week tomorrow, featuring Lucy Hale!

Let me know what you think!

Hey, bloggers! So, if you live in the general Northern area of England (maybe even down South) you'll know that Party In The Park happened last Sunday. My mum got me and my two friends tickets, and we had what was one of my favorite days this year so far. Aside from arriving early and being stood two rows away from the stage (Olly Murs up close and personal? Yes please!) I risked health for fashion and decided not to wear a 'proper' coat. It ended up absolutely chucking it down for most of the day, and my thin coat did nothing to protect me - pneumonia was close coming. But still, we had fun. I decided to wear classic festival (or outdoor concert, whatever) wear, opting for shorts and wellies. I accessorized with bracelets and a few rings, my sunglasses - which were about as much use as an umberella with a hole in it - and some earrings. The highlight of the day for me was probably Professor Green... whom I may have a slight obsession with. Because I'm so nice, I've decided to include some of my photographs from the day, which feature Dizzee Rascal, Olly Murs and - drum roll, please - Blue! All Rise, anyone?

"ONE LOVE FOR THE MOTHERS PRIDE"

I apologise for this post being late, but better late then never and all that. I hope you liked this post, and comment if you went to Party In The Park or have been before!

There will be another Outfit of the Day on Thursday (hopefully), where I'm talking about the outfit I wore to my Uncle's wedding.

Style Icon of the Week #1: PERRIE EDWARDS

Aside from possibly being my 'Ultimate Style Crush of All Time', Perrie Edwards has been absolutely rocking the festival scene this July. Although the Instagram videos of her and band mates Jade, Leigh-Anne and Jesy dancing along to Snoop Dogg (or, er, Snoop Lion) were great, it was Perrie's numerous outfits that caught my eye. So as she partied to Snoop Dogg/Lion, here's the outfit that Perrie wore:

All throughout the festivals - whilst both performing and watching the other acts - Perrie opted for a monochrome theme, which is huge this season. Sticking to her usual Bohemian style, her bang-on-trend tie dye maxi dress is casual, and looks effortlessly cool with its square collar and rolled sleeves. Perrie teamed her maxi dress with a black fashion turban (which Cara Delevigne has also been spotted wearing) and accessorized with a cross necklace. Her simple sandals also compliment the chilled out vibe.

Moving onto outfit nĂºmero dos, (that's number two for any of you non-Spanish speakers). Whilst performing at Wireless Festival, Perrie kept her monochrome in tact. Here's the evidence:

Although still relatively casual, Perrie's performance outfit is a tad dressier than her previous one. Crop tops have been quite popular this Summer, and never one to pass up on a summer favourite, Perrie has worn hers with style. Teaming it with some elephant print trousers (which are unbelievably cute) and Dr Martens, I'd give Pez a 10/10.

Crop Top, £6.00

Trousers, £16.99
from New Look
Boots, £110.00 from Dr M.
(If, like me, these shoes are out of your price range,
there are some similar ones on the
TopShop and River Island websites.)

And last but not least, Perrie's T in The Park ensemble - and what I think is my favourite:

Perrie is smashing this tomboy-themed outfit. Her oversized jersey style T-shirt worn as a dress looks fabulous on her, and her Dr Martens (as worn before) compliment the outfit. Beanie hats have been on trend for months now - it doesn't look like they're going out any time soon, either - and Perrie's pulling hers off perfectly. Her bold make-up also works well with the outfit, and her red lips helps add a tiny bit of colour to her overall look. Brilliant.

So there's a few reasons why Perrie Edwards is my Style Icon of the Week. I'd love to know, who are your style icons and why?

I'll be posting SIOTW every Saturday at 2pm UK time, and Outfit of the Day's will be posted at 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so keep an eye out for those! Random extra little posts will probably be posted on a Sunday or Friday, I'm not sure yet.

Follow me on Instagram (I've only just created this one so I apologize for the lack of photos) @fashionbykennedy. Follow me on Bloglovin' @fashionbykennedy, and I'll be setting up Facebook and Twitter pages in the near future, so you'll be able to tweet me on those.

So yeah, er, thanks for, um, reading. Bye?
